Petroleum Product Consumption Decreases in Nepal Amidst Price Hikes and Reduced Holidays

Consumption of most petroleum products in Nepal decreased in Baishakh compared to Chaitra, attributed to government-imposed public holidays and a slowdown in the construction sector. Diesel consumption saw the largest drop, followed by petrol, kerosene, and cooking gas, while aviation fuel consumption slightly increased. Nepal Oil Corporation spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur suggested additional public holidays might be a factor for petrol, but other reasons could affect diesel consumption, possibly linked to increased construction material prices halting work, as noted by construction entrepreneur Binod Ghimire.
