Court Allows 4-Day Custody for Janak Pariyar for Threatening to Set Fire to Monasteries

The court has granted a 4-day custody extension for Janak Pariyar, who was arrested for announcing he would set fire to monasteries. SP Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Complex Kathmandu confirmed that Pariyar, from Rukum Paschim, is being investigated for offenses related to not hurting religious sentiments. Pariyar had made the threat during a speech in Anamnagar, warning of a nationwide rebellion if equal rights were not granted.
