Indian tourist arrival increased in West Nepal on the way to Mt Kailash and Mansarobar

The number of Indian religious tourists visiting Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar has increased in Simkot with the onset of the monsoon season. Pilgrims are arriving via air from Nepalgunj to Simkot and then traveling onward through Hilsa to China. In four days, 169 tourists reached Simkot, including 147 Indian pilgrims. Despite unfavorable weather and delayed permit issuance, authorities are optimistic about continued rising figures, especially after the Hilsa border reopened last year following COVID-19 closures.
