Sungurkhal settlement deserted

The integrated settlement at Sungurkhal in Naraharinath Rural Municipality of Kalikot remains largely deserted due to inadequate geological studies and a failure to address local needs, employment, and livelihood opportunities. Despite substantial investment from the Karnali provincial government and local authorities, the settlement, comprising 149 houses, a school, and a health facility, is largely abandoned as locals return to their former settlements due to the lack of farmland, reliable income, and essential services.
