Auditor General flags billions in tax evasion through undisclosed property deals

Nepal’s Office of the Auditor General has identified large-scale tax evasion linked to real estate transactions, with 123 taxpayers concealing billions in income from land sales. These taxpayers failed to disclose profits from land worth Rs 3.97 billion, leading to an estimated Rs 677.8 million in unpaid taxes. The report also highlights 469 individuals earning over Rs 4 million annually who failed to submit mandatory income declarations, resulting in approximately Rs 679.4 million in unpaid income tax.
