Red panda health study begins in Myagdi

A health study of the endangered red panda has commenced in the Jaljala and Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve areas of Myagdi, focusing on fecal examination to assess the species’ health condition. Conducted by the Biodiversity Conservation Society Nepal (BIOCOS) with support from Toledo Zoo, the research involves analyzing fecal samples and data from camera traps to estimate population and study parasites. Red pandas are listed as endangered wildlife species in Nepal, with recent estimates suggesting 500 to 1,000 inhabit the country.
