BP Highway reconstruction accelerates with Japanese aid

Reconstruction of the flood-damaged BP Highway is progressing rapidly with Japanese aid, eight months after severe floods disrupted the road. The project, supported by Japan and implemented with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), involves rebuilding approximately 30 kilometers of the highway. The Piple–Barkhekhola section is being constructed by Shimizu Corporation with a Japanese grant, while the Government of Nepal has allocated funds for other sections. The highway will be upgraded to a two-lane road with expanded bridges, incorporating climate-resilient features, with completion targeted within the next fiscal year.
