Parents globally are battling the rise of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) which are replacing fresh food in diets, contributing to rising childhood obesity. A recent Lancet review warned of long-term harm from UPFs, calling for urgent action. Parents in Nepal, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Uganda, India, and Kenya describe challenges with aggressive advertising, unhealthy school environments, and the high cost and scarcity of fresh food, making it difficult to provide healthy diets for their children.
