Consuming large amounts of junk food early in life can cause lasting changes in the brain's appetite control, even if a healthier diet is adopted later. A study from University College Cork found that these effects persisted into adulthood, potentially increasing the risk of obesity. However, beneficial gut bacteria and prebiotic fibers showed potential in reversing some of these long-term effects and supporting healthier eating behaviors.
