Chinese Electric Vehicles Evade Rs 25.8 Million in Customs Duty

An Auditor General's report reveals that Chinese brand Joylong electric vehicles have evaded Rs 25.8 million in customs duties by fraudulently declaring microbuses as minibuses to exploit tax concessions for public transport. The report indicates negligence or collusion by customs officials and directs the Ministry of Finance and Department of Customs to reclassify the vehicles and recover the evaded amount, including penalties.
