Indonesia mine landslide kills nine

Nine bodies were recovered after a landslide hit near an illegal gold mine in Sijunjung district, Sumatra Island, Indonesia. A cliff collapsed on Thursday, burying miners working nearby; three others escaped. Police and volunteers launched a rescue operation. Local environmental group WALHI noted at least 48 deaths in West Sumatra since 2012 due to incidents at illegal gold mines.
