Bagmati

The squatter settlements in Thapathali have been removed, opening up the Bagmati riverbank area and transforming its appearance. This campaign, aimed at expanding the Bagmati corridor and protecting the riverbank, has resulted in a cleaner and more organized space previously filled with disorganized huts and garbage. The Metropolitan City stated the campaign is necessary for public land protection, riverbank management, and urban aesthetics.

Continuous heavy rainfall and natural disasters have caused widespread disruptions to vehicular movement on major highways across Nepal, including in Karnali, Gandaki, and Bagmati provinces. Landslides and flood risks have completely blocked key routes such as the Karnali Corridor in Kalikot and the Mid-Hill Highway in Lamjung, while authorities have suspended traffic on the BP Highway due to flood threats. In some affected areas, emergency workers have cleared debris to allow for temporary, one-way traffic.

Nepal is currently experiencing the influence of westerly and local winds, leading to predictions of moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and windstorms across several provinces. The Weather Forecasting Division has indicated potential for these weather events in areas including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Madhesh, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Bagmati province is projected to contribute over a third (36.7%) to Nepal's national economy in the current Fiscal Year 2025/26, according to preliminary estimates from the National Statistics Office. This highlights significant economic disparities among the seven provinces, with Bagmati expected to contribute Rs. 2.42 trillion to the national economy, estimated to reach Rs. 6.6 trillion.
