Indian National Arrested with Gold and USD at Kakarbhitta Checkpoint
An Indian national, identified as Param Pathak from Kolkata, was apprehended at the Kakarbhitta customs checkpoint with 570 grams of 24-carat gold valued at 14.46 million rupees and 20,000 US dollars. The Armed Police Force Nepal seized the gold, currency, and other personal items during a routine check on Monday evening.
Youth Rescued Unconscious with Cash; Abandoned Baby Found; Fake Notes Seized
In separate incidents, police rescued an unconscious youth with Rs 118,000 cash in Kakarbhitta, found an abandoned newborn in Itahari, and arrested a man with fake Nepali notes in Lalitpur. The unconscious youth, Hari Thapa, was found near the Kakarbhitta bus park after allegedly consuming excessive alcohol and has since been discharged from the hospital. The abandoned baby, estimated to be 7-10 days old, was discovered in a forest area in Itahari, with investigations hampered by malfunctioning CCTV cameras. Meanwhile, Suraj Rai was arrested in Lalitpur with 16 fake Rs 500 notes.
