Thousands of devotees from Nepal and India gathered at Dasharath Lake in Janakpurdham to observe Ganga Dashahara, participating in holy bathing and worship. The festival commemorates the descent of Mother Ganga to Earth, with a belief that bathing in the lake purifies sins and fulfills wishes. The Mahaganga Aarti also commenced in Janakpurdham.

The District Administration Office (DAO) in Mahottari has issued 209 citizenship certificates based on mothers' lineage over the past four months. This provision allows children whose fathers' identities are unknown to obtain citizenship by descent, following a Cabinet decision and subsequent publication in the Nepal Gazette. Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav stated that eligible children are completing the required processes to receive these certificates.

An Indian youth, identified as Saurabh Rastogi, approximately 22 years old, drowned while swimming in the Tinau River Dam in Palpa. Separately, four young girls died in separate drowning incidents in Mahottari on Friday, with three perishing while bathing in a river and one drowning in a field puddle. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
