Mahottari DAO Issues 209 Citizenship Certificates Based on Mothers' Lineage

The District Administration Office (DAO) in Mahottari has issued 209 citizenship certificates over the past four months based on mothers' lineage. This follows a Cabinet decision from December 26, 2025, to grant citizenship to children with unknown fathers, which was published in the Nepal Gazette on January 5, 2026. Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav stated that eligible children are now receiving citizenship by descent after completing the necessary procedures.
