The climbing route to Mount Everest has been officially opened for the spring expedition season after ropes were fixed from Base Camp to the summit. The Department of Tourism announced the route's completion on May 13, thanking the guides and icefall doctors involved in the operation. Climbers are now expected to begin summit attempts.

  • The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation assigned the Everest Pollution Control Committee and Expedition Operators Association the responsibility of managing and fixing climbing routes.
  • Eight icefall doctors and 11 climbing guides were involved in fixing the ropes from Camp II to the summit.
  • This year, a record 492 climbers have received permits to climb Sagarmatha, with over Rs. 1 billion collected in royalties.
  • Difficulties arose this season due to the old route through the Khumbu Icefall becoming blocked, requiring Icefall Doctors to reopen it.
