Indian National Arrested with Gold and US Dollars at Kakarbhitta Checkpoint

An Indian national, Param Pathak, was arrested at the Kakarbhitta customs checkpoint with 570 grams of gold and 20,000 US dollars. The gold is valued at 14.465 million rupees, and the currency was confiscated along with Indian rupees. Pathak, who claims to be from Kolkata, is undergoing legal proceedings at the Jhapa District Court.

  • Param Pathak, 39, was apprehended by the Armed Police Force Nepal at the Kakarbhitta checkpoint on Monday evening.
  • Authorities also seized 85,419 Indian rupees from the arrested individual.
  • Additional items confiscated include a driver's license, Aadhaar card, mobile phones, a hard disk, SIM card, visa card, and a cheque.
  • The arrested Indian citizen is being held at the Area Police Office in Kakarbhitta.
