Pokhara Metropolitan City has begun demolishing structures built within the Phirke River's riverbanks after a 35-day notice period expired. The campaign targets encroachments identified through a river measurement report conducted in Ashadh 2080 BS. Despite a temporary interim order from the High Court Pokhara, the legal path for the metropolis has been cleared, allowing the removal of 160 illegally constructed structures. Plans include purifying the river and developing the Phirke Corridor as a tourist destination.
