Smartphone imports hit record

Nepal's smartphone imports in the first 10 months of fiscal year 2025/26 have surpassed the total import value of the previous fiscal year, reaching Rs. 39.39 billion. Despite importing fewer units than the previous year, the higher value indicates an increase in the import of more expensive devices. The government collected approximately Rs. 7.34 billion in revenue from these imports, with China and India being the largest sources.
