Nearly 60 percent of budget spent in ten months, development expenditure only 28 percent

By the end of Baisakh (May 14) of the current fiscal year 2025/26, the government's budget expenditure has reached approximately 60 percent of the annual allocation. The Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) reported that Rs 1.173 trillion has been spent in the past ten months, representing 59.75 percent of the total budget of Rs 1.964 trillion. Capital expenditure, however, stands at only 27.91 percent of its allocation, with Rs 113.85 billion spent out of Rs 407.88 billion. Government revenue has also shrunk to 66 percent of the annual target, with Rs 1.012 trillion collected against a target of Rs 1.533 trillion.
