The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended an investigation into the roles of political leaders, campaigners, social media influencers, and organizations accused of instigating violent protests on September 8 and 9 last year. The NHRC advised the government to conduct a detailed investigation into whether public statements, social media posts, and activities of named individuals contributed to violence, destruction, and disturbances to public order. Among those named are former Prime Minister Sushila Karki, former home ministers Sudan Gurung and Om Prakash Aryal, medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, and former crown princess Himani Shah.
