Nepal’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended legal action against former Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and former Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung for alleged human rights violations during protests on Bhadra 23 and 24. An investigation committee led by NHRC member Lily Thapa found them responsible. The NHRC also recommended the government consider a new law, potentially retrospective, to address such violations, citing Supreme Court precedents. Proposed punishments include imprisonment, fines, and bans on political participation, with reconciliation measures suggested for less severe cases.
