For the first time, AI-powered drone technology is being used for forest patrolling in Mustang by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in Jomsom. The drones are deployed to monitor forests, pastures, and grazing areas in difficult terrain, aiming to protect forest products and control illegal activities like wildlife poaching and resource exploitation. Surveillance is also being conducted during the Yarsagumba harvesting season to prevent illegal activities and detect poaching.
