Pokhara Metropolitan City has begun a major demolition drive to remove encroached structures along roads and public land, including the Hong Kong Bazaar and Pokhara Bus Park areas. Businesses have been forced to vacate their premises, with demolition scheduled to begin after expired deadlines. The city aims to pave the way for road construction and a modern bus park, while also addressing encroachments along Firke Khola. Mayor Dhanraj Acharya stated that political protection had enabled illegal renting of public land, and that genuine squatters and landless families would be managed before the bus park project proceeds.
