Road traffic accidents across Nepal claimed 239 lives and injured thousands between mid-April and mid-May of fiscal year 2025/26, according to Nepal Police statistics. Motorcycles and scooters were involved in over 61% of crashes, with speeding identified as the primary cause. Despite intensified enforcement, traffic police collected over Rs. 118 million in fines.
