The National Agricultural Modernization Project Jomsom is promoting the use of a 'bio-solution' called 'Epiphytic Lactic Acid Bacteria' as an alternative to chemical pesticides for fruit crops in Myagdi, Mustang, Baglung, and Parbat. Project chief Bharatraj Gautam stated that this biological solution, prepared from local herbs and grasses, was tested last year and is now being implemented in Mustang's apple orchards.

  • The bio-solution is encouraged for being healthier, environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and locally preparable, aiming to make Mustang apples completely organic by replacing imported chemical pesticides.
  • The project has trained 75 farmers last year and 85 apple farmers this year in preparing bio-solutions for organic fertilizer.
  • Commercial agricultural production and processing zones have been established in Mustang, Myagdi, Parbat, and Baglung to support farming expansion, quality improvement, increased production, and marketing.
  • The bio-solution was tested in the project's apple orchard last year before its introduction to farmers this year.
