Construction of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Duhabi 400kV transmission line has resumed following initiatives by Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha to resolve compensation and land disputes with affected locals. Continuous discussions led by the minister facilitated an agreement on compensation packages, allowing landowners to accept them and enabling the Nepal Electricity Authority to restart tower construction.

  • The Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Duhabi transmission line project, initiated in 2012, faced years of delays primarily due to compensation disputes and land acquisition issues, particularly in the Hetauda section.
  • Of the 134-kilometer Hetauda-Dhalkebar section, three out of 14 planned towers have been completed, with two more currently under construction.
  • The 154-kilometer Dhalkebar-Inaruwa eastern section of the transmission line became operational three years ago.
  • The Nepal Electricity Authority reported that continuous discussions and coordination among affected locals, elected representatives, and stakeholders were key to resolving the compensation-related concerns.
