Nepal Prepares for Monsoon: Over 226,000 Expected to be Affected

Nepal's Monsoon Preparedness and Response National Action Plan estimates over 226,000 people could be affected by monsoon-related disasters this year, with projections similar to 2014, 2016, and 2022. The plan highlights risks including floods, landslides, and heatwaves, particularly affecting vulnerable groups like the elderly. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology warns that despite predictions of a weaker monsoon, localized intense rainfall and thunderstorms could still increase disaster risks.
