Security forces in Mustang, Nepal, seized 590 cartons of Chinese electronic cigarettes (vapes) and arrested three individuals during a border operation near the Nepal-China frontier. The operation took place on Friday night in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-4, where the vapes were intercepted while being transported towards Kathmandu. The seized consignment was found in two containers that had reportedly entered Nepal via the Korala border point.

  • The joint security operation involved personnel from the Armed Police Force Border Out Post Nechung, Nepal Police, and the Mustang Customs Office.
  • In addition to the vapes, authorities also recovered 259 cartons of shoes, eight sacks of socks, and 15 sacks of garments.
  • The arrested individuals have been identified as Santosh Lama, Phunchudorje Tamang, and Pasang Sherpa.
  • The confiscated goods were transferred to the Mustang Customs Office for further investigation and legal processing.
  • This seizure highlights concerns over illegal cross-border trade of vaping products and unregulated entry of electronic nicotine delivery systems into Nepal.
