Over-speeding was the primary cause of road accidents in Nepal during Baisakh (April-May) 2026, contributing to 1,253 out of 2,294 recorded accidents. These incidents resulted in 239 deaths and numerous injuries. Police also recorded 137,094 traffic rule violations, collecting Rs 118.02 million in fines. The majority of accidents occurred between 6:00 pm and midnight, with two-wheelers involved most frequently.
