Public debt rises to nearly Rs 3 trillion

Nepal's total public debt liability has reached nearly Rs 3 trillion by mid-May of the current fiscal year, representing 45.08 percent of the GDP. Of the total debt, foreign debt constitutes 53.57 percent, while domestic debt makes up 46.43 percent. The government has achieved only 61.30 percent of its annual public debt target, with strong progress in domestic borrowing but significantly below target for foreign borrowing.
