Govt spends nearly 60 percent of annual budget by mid-May

The government has utilized nearly 60 percent of its total budget allocation for the fiscal year 2025/26 by mid-May, spending Rs 1.173 trillion out of Rs 1.964 trillion. Recurrent expenditure stands at 68.98 percent, while capital expenditure is only 27.91 percent utilized. Government revenue collection has reached approximately 66 percent of the annual target, and foreign aid received is at 33.28 percent of the target.
