Torrential rain and floods batter China, killing at least 12 and forcing mass evacuations
Torrential rain and floods have impacted parts of China, resulting in at least 12 deaths and forcing the evacuation of tens of thousands of people. Hunan province reported five deaths and 11 missing, with one town experiencing record-breaking rainfall. Hubei province saw streets flooded, requiring inflatable boats for rescue, and some houses collapsed, causing three deaths and four missing. Guizhou Province also reported four deaths and five missing due to heavy rain and floods, with damage to infrastructure and disruptions to communications.
