The Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project has commenced the upgrade of the nine-kilometer Jomsom-Kagbeni road section, a critical part of the Kaligandaki Corridor, at a cost of approximately Rs 70 million. This upgrade aims to address structural damage caused by natural elements to the previously blacktopped road. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance has approved a substantial Rs 54.5 billion for 21 major infrastructure projects nationwide, including significant allocations for various corridors and highways.

  • The Jomsom-Kagbeni road upgrade, contracted to Kalimata–Thapakaji–Rasuwa JV Construction, is expected to be completed within a four-month period, by September.
  • The upgrade work involves constructing gabion walls, masonry walls, plum concrete, and RCC slope protection along the nine-kilometer stretch.
  • The Ministry of Finance's Rs 54.5 billion guarantee for 21 infrastructure projects requires line ministries to initiate procurement within two months to avoid expiration.
  • The Postal Highway Project Directorate received the largest allocation of Rs 29.07 billion for constructing bridges, culverts, and roads.
  • The Jomsom-Kagbeni road connects the Korala checkpoint and Muktinath, and its upgrade is crucial for long-term sustainability.
