Nepal Government Allocates Billions for Health Sector, Expands Services

The Nepali government has announced a significant budget allocation of Rs 101.95 billion for the health sector in the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27, with Rs 15 billion earmarked for health insurance. Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle presented the budget, which also includes plans to expand burn treatment capacity at Bir Hospital and Kirtipur Hospital, and enable Nepal Drug Limited to produce 25 types of free medicines.
